Before the restoration, a common complaint from the parishioners was that the lighting was inadequate for reading prayer and hymn books. Because of its historic landmark status, careful restoration of existing decorative chandeliers was required and new lighting needed to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Lighting Ergonomics took the successful approach of using remote, carefully focused lighting to present a convincing effect that the decorative chandeliers were doing the main lighting, even though the lamping had been deliberately downsized during restoration to eliminate glare. This project received an IES Illumination Awards’ Award of Merit.
