LE’s journey began in Madison, Wisconsin, a vibrant American city renowned for its rich university culture, its prominence as the state capital, and its enduring architectural legacy shaped by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. After years of working with a large corporation on complex, large-scale projects, LE’s founding members — Mandar and Ken — sought something deeper and more meaningful.

Rooted in the science of ergonomics — optimizing human well-being through thoughtful system design — LIGHTING ERGONOMICS (LE) was born. Both Mandar and Ken believed in the profound connection between light and human experience. Recognizing an industry gap in how human-factor principles were applied to lighting, they conceived LE as a holistic lighting design practice that unites science, design, and human well-being.

From humble beginnings, LE swiftly established an international footprint, extending from Madison to Mumbai and Beijing in a span of five years.
